With the talent-packed roster the Detroit Lions have going into the 2024 season, the team is poised to see at least one player earn a first-team All-Pro selection for the first time in their career.
tight end Sam LaPorta, guard Kevin Zeitler, edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, and defensive lineman Alim McNeill.
LaPorta had one of the best seasons for a rookie tight end in NFL history, with 86 receptions, 889 yards, and 10 touchdowns, ranking first, fourth, and second all-time, respectively. With a year of experience and more targets available after Josh Reynolds’ departure, LaPorta is positioned for an even better 2024 season, likely earning All-Pro consideration.
Hutchinson set a career-best with 11.5 sacks in 2023, surpassing his 9.5 sacks from his rookie year, despite limited support around him. The additions of Marcus Davenport and D.J. Reader, coupled with an improved secondary, should give Hutchinson more opportunities to excel, setting him up for a significant leap in his third season.
McNeill had a breakout year and is entering a contract season. If he can build on his third-year performance, it’s reasonable to expect he could enter the All-Pro conversation.
Zeitler, a reliable interior offensive lineman for years, earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2023. With the Lions’ strong supporting cast, he could elevate his game further, making him a solid All-Pro candidate.
Beyond these four, other Lions players, such as quarterback Jared Goff and running back Jahmyr Gibbs, also have strong cases for All-Pro recognition.
