Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober have returned from their loan spells to join Daniel Farke’s squad. Whites boss Daniel Farke explained the changes that prompted their return for a second chance with Leeds United.
Last summer, Aaronson and Wober were among the players who left Leeds on loan due to relegation clauses, with Aaronson joining Union Berlin and Wober signing for Borussia Monchengladbach. Most of the departing players have now either secured permanent moves or, like Jack Harrison and Rasmus Kristensen, left on another season-long loan.

However, Aaronson and Wober are back with Farke’s squad and have traveled to Germany for the club’s pre-season training camp. Following international duty this summer, both missed Friday’s friendly at Harrogate Town, but Farke confirmed their return and explained the reasons behind it.
After the match, Farke discussed what had changed his mind about Aaronson and Wober, emphasizing their need to prove themselves with hard work and strong performances. He noted that the decision regarding Aaronson was made before his arrival and that with Wober, it was decided in the early days with minimal training sessions together.
Farke highlighted the importance of conversations with the players to ensure their eagerness and mental readiness to return. He acknowledged that, as part of the relegated team, they had faced criticism, which is normal. He also pointed out the remarkable improvement of players like Georginio Rutter, Illan Meslier, and Cree Summerville, who had also faced criticism but turned it around last season.
