Detroit Lions’ 53-Man Roster Prediction for 2024 Training Camp.

By

On Saturday, following the Friday morning internet outage that disrupted airline travel, rookies are set to report to the Detroit Lions’ training camp. Veterans will follow next Tuesday, July 23.

The goal of the training camp and preseason games is to trim the current offseason roster, which stands at 89 players (subject to change before the first camp practice), down to the final 53 players for the season.

Many spots on the Lions’ active roster for the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, barring unforeseen significant injuries, are already fairly secure. However, there will be strong competition for starting positions, and some battles for roster spots at the back end of the roster due to positional numbers.

As training camp approaches, here’s an updated projection for the Lions’ 53-man roster.

Detroit Lions Pre-Training Camp 53-Man Roster ProjectionQuarterbacks: 2 (2/53)**

– Jared Goff
– Hendon Hooker

The main question is whether the Lions will keep two or three quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster. The practice squad and the league’s emergency quarterback rule provide the option to stash Sudfeld there.
