Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has announced his leadership group for the 2024/25 season. Ethan Ampadu will serve as captain, with Pascal Struijk and Illan Meslier as vice-captains.
Ampadu, a Welsh international, joined Leeds from Chelsea last summer and played a key role in both defense and midfield, often leading the team in the latter part of the 2023/24 season.
Meslier, a Frenchman, arrived in 2019 initially on loan from Lorient before making the move permanent. He has since become the first-choice goalkeeper for Leeds.
Farke commented, “Ethan, Pascal, and Illan have all been pivotal since my arrival last summer. I believe we have a strong leadership group respected by everyone. Ethan and Pascal demonstrated their leadership capabilities last season, and I look forward to their continued contributions.
Ampadu expressed his gratitude, saying, “Being named captain of this incredible football club is an honor, and I understand the responsibility it entails. Leading the team last season was a privilege, and I’m excited about this opportunity. I will give my all for the badge and strive to lead by example, following the legacy of past captains.”
