Alexander Blessin wird neuer Cheftrainer des FC St. Pauli - FuPa

Newly-promoted Bundesliga team FC St. Pauli has announced Alexander Blessin as their new head coach.

Fabian Hürzeler, who guided FC St. Pauli to Bundesliga promotion, has left his role to join Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Hamburg-based club has now appointed his successor: 51-year-old Alexander Blessin, who arrives from Belgian cup winners and league runners-up Union Saint-Gilloise.

“With Alexander Blessin, we have secured an internationally experienced coach for FC St. Pauli. He possesses extensive tactical knowledge and has previously coached in Belgium and Italy’s top divisions as well as on the international stage,” stated St. Pauli sporting director Andreas Bornemann.

He also noted that Blessin, formerly a youth coach at RB Leipzig, has expertise in developing young players for senior competition.

“We are thrilled that he has chosen to lead FC St. Pauli as head coach in the Bundesliga, even with the prospect of Champions League matches,” Bornemann added.
