Confirmed deal: Derby County have secure a signing of £1.5 million deal just

Derby County have yet to agree with Leicester City on Daniel Iversen’s transfer fee as negotiations continue.

Geoff Peters reports that the Rams are aiming to pay significantly less than Leicester’s £1.5 million valuation.

Paul Warne, who previously worked with the 27-year-old at Rotherham United, values Iversen highly after a successful loan spell there.

With Iversen entering the final year of his contract, Leicester are keen to sell this summer to avoid losing him for free in 2025.

Iversen played 18 Championship games on loan at Stoke City last season (statistics from Fbref).

Warne is looking to strengthen Derby’s goalkeeping options ahead of their Championship return.

The Rams, promoted from League One after finishing second, have been active in the transfer market to bolster their squad.

Although Derby were linked with Mat Ryan, that deal seems unlikely.

The pursuit of Iversen remains active, but a compromise on the fee is necessary for a deal to be reached.

Leicester’s £1.5 million asking price is currently too high for Derby.

Iversen is Leicester’s second-choice keeper, with Mads Hermansen expected to start under new manager Steve Cooper.

Warne has a strong relationship with Iversen, who made 34 League One appearances, kept eight clean sheets, and conceded 36 goals during their time together at Rotherham.

Derby have already signed Ebou Adams, Kenzo Goudmijn, Ben Osborn, Corey Taylor-Blackett, Kayden Jackson, and Jerry Yates as they prepare for the Championship.

The Rams have until 30 August to complete their transfer business before the new season starts.

Derby will face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on 9 August in their opening league fixture.
