“That brings to mind the time when Myziane Maolida recalled how Ronaldo dedicated a goal to his late son and expressed his emotions.”

The equestrian club at the Olympic Park, which uses the equestrian stadium, will be impacted by the planned construction of a new stadium at Jesse-Owens-Allee. The club was only informed of these plans by the Senate administration a few days ago, according to a protest letter sent by the board to the sports senator, Iris Spranger (SPD). The commission’s proposal for the new stadium is justified by the fact that the equestrian club has another facility outside the Olympic Park. However, as stated in a letter to the sports senator Iris Spranger (SPD) on Monday evening, this other facility would not suffice to accommodate all the horses. The letter explains that both of the club’s equestrian facilities are nearly full, and if they had to give up the current facility, about 30 horses would need new accommodation, which is not feasible due to high veterinary requirements and the demands of horse breeding.

The equestrian club also claims that they were not included in discussions about the stadium’s construction. Its representatives were never invited to any meetings of the expert commission. The club’s board calls for urgent discussions to clarify the situation.

Recently, the association submitted an application to renovate two large riding arenas in the Olympic Park. Preliminary discussions have already occurred with a photovoltaic systems manufacturer interested in using a large roof area for investment. According to previous reports by rbb, the Senate plans to take over planning rights for the Olympic Park, which is seen as a step towards building a new stadium for Hertha BSC in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district. The Olympic Park development plan for 2030 includes provisions for the equestrian club, envisioning the consolidation of various equestrian clubs into one location, planned at the show jumping stadium, where the Senate currently plans to construct a football stadium for Hertha BSC.

Hertha BSC has long wanted its own stadium. The planned stadium would have 45,000 seats. Whether the club can finance such a large project independently remains to be seen, as they currently play their home matches at the expansive Olympiastadion.

“We support the potential new privately funded football stadium for Hertha BSC, which can accommodate approximately 45,000 spectators, in a suitable location within the Olympic Park,” stated a coalition of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in early March.
