Emma Kavanagh is among the most acclaimed incoming freshmen for Arizona softball in recent memory, and her accolades continue to grow.

Kavanagh, one of five players signed by the Wildcats in the 2024 recruiting class, has been honored as the NFCA High School Catcher of the Year.

Hailing from Barrington, Illinois, Kavanagh was ranked by Extra Innings Softball as the No. 7 overall player in the 2024 class and the third-best catcher in the nation. She concluded her high school career with 64 home runs, placing her second in Illinois history, just two short of the record.

Kavanagh is set to participate in the Premier Girls Fastpitch All-American Game on July 27 in Irvine, California, playing for the East Team. The game will be broadcast at 4 p.m. PT on ESPNU. She will be the first UA player to compete in this event since 2022, when Tayler Biehl, Logan Cole, and Dakota Kennedy played for the West Team.
