It’s a done deal: Derby County have sign goalkeeper Rohan Luthra just now from…..
Derby County are reportedly set to sign goalkeeper Rohan Luthra this week following his departure from Cardiff City, according to Sky Sports (live transfer blog, 24.07.24, 19.26).
Luthra has been on trial with Derby County recently, featuring in friendly matches against Stockport County and Chesterfield.
The 22-year-old’s contract with Cardiff City expired at the end of last season, and he was not offered a renewal. He became a free agent in late June and has been considering his options this summer.
According to the latest update from Sky Sports, Derby County is expected to sign Luthra on a permanent basis as they prepare for the upcoming Championship season. Paul Warne’s team, which finished 2nd in League One behind Portsmouth last season, has been active in the transfer market.
Luthra is likely to serve as a backup goalkeeper for Derby County.
He joined Cardiff City in 2021, providing cover for their goalkeeping department but made only one first-team appearance, which led to his departure in search of new opportunities.
Last season, Luthra spent time on loan at Slough Town in the National League South, where he played 12 games to gain experience.
Before moving to Cardiff, Luthra progressed through the academy ranks at Crystal Palace and was a regular at various youth levels. The Premier League club gave him his first professional contract, but he left Selhurst Park nearly three years ago.
