Borg will collaborate with his wife, Patricia Borg, who will write the book, to share his journey as a tennis phenomenon, celebrity, and father, covering his upbringing, career, and life up to the present day.
In a statement on Tuesday, Borg announced the upcoming release of his autobiography.
“I am excited about this collaboration with Norstedts, Sweden’s oldest publishing house. We have mutual trust and respect for each other,” Borg said.
Patricia Borg expressed her honor in taking on the project.
“With the support of everyone at Norstedts, I am confident that the book will be a success,” she said.
Nicknamed the “Ice Man” or “Ice-Borg” for his calm demeanor on the court, Borg is one of the greatest athletes in history. He was the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles, with six victories at the French Open and five consecutive Wimbledon titles. Borg also holds the record for the second-longest winning streak, with 48 matches between 1979 and 1980.
His retirement in 1983 at the age of 26 shocked the tennis world.
Gunilla Bergmark, senior editor at Norstedts, remarked, “It is a huge and important task to finally publish Bjorn Borg’s story. This is a long-awaited book, and I can’t think of a better person to write his story than Patricia, his wife.”
