Done deal: A 25-year-old midfielder committed to the Derby County just….

Elliot Embleton of Sunderland is attracting interest from his former clubs, Blackpool and Derby County, this summer, according to Alan Nixon.

Sunderland is gearing up for the upcoming season under the new management of Regis Le Bris, who is set to make his mark in his debut year managing in England.

While Sunderland has already made some moves this summer, further changes are expected, and a few departures are likely.

Embleton, 25, has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons. Last season, he was loaned to Derby County but only made two appearances before a serious injury sidelined him for the season. In the 2022/23 season, he played 23 games for Sunderland, contributing four goals before being halted by injury again.

Nixon reports that Blackpool and Derby County are both keen on securing Embleton on a permanent deal, with Blackpool showing the most serious interest.

Embleton, a versatile midfielder who is proficient with both feet, is known for his tidy play when fit. During Sunderland’s promotion season, he contributed to 15 goals in League One over 40 games and remains a fan favorite for his play-off final goal against Wycombe Wanderers.
