The attacking midfielder is being pursued by both Blackpool and Derby County.
Blackpool is reportedly interested in bringing Elliot Embleton back to the club. Embleton, a homegrown talent from Sunderland, helped the Tangerines secure promotion from League One to the Championship through the play-offs at Wembley during a loan spell in 2021.
The 25-year-old former England youth international made 18 appearances for Blackpool during their promotion-winning season before returning to Sunderland, where he helped his boyhood club achieve promotion in the same fashion the following season.
Transfer insider Alan Nixon reports: “Blackpool are eager to sign their former player Elliot Embleton from Sunderland in a significant move. Embleton, who helped the Seasiders win promotion during a previous loan stint, could now return permanently.
Embleton is fit again after recovering from an injury sustained while on loan at Derby and is keen to make a fresh start. While Derby has also shown interest, Blackpool is aiming to finalize a full-time transfer soon.â€
Sunderland will play Bradford at Valley Parade on Tuesday evening in their second-to-last pre-season friendly.
