On Tuesday morning, the club released a statement: “During a routine heart scan as part of our pre-season medical evaluations, we identified a potential risk for Colby Bishop. After consulting with cardiologists and our medical team, it was decided that immediate surgery was the best option for addressing this issue.
“Everyone at Portsmouth FC stands fully behind Colby and his family. We will provide updates on his anticipated return to play once his rehabilitation plan is established.”
Bishop expressed his appreciation for the support from Portsmouth FC since the problem was discovered. He commented: “This is definitely not the start to the season I had anticipated. It’s been a challenging time for my family and me. However, I am incredibly thankful to be under the care of a top specialist using an innovative procedure to help me recover. I want to thank everyone at Portsmouth Football Club for their continued support, and I look forward to returning to play in front of you all at Fratton Park.”
