Derby County is set to receive some financial benefit from Liam Delap’s imminent transfer to Ipswich Town, after Manchester City agreed to a £20 million deal for the striker. Delap is scheduled for a medical today to finalize the move, which reportedly includes £15 million upfront and £5 million in add-ons.

Despite Southampton also having a bid accepted for the highly sought-after striker, who impressed during his loan at Hull City in the Championship last season, Delap has chosen Ipswich as his next club. He was seen at Portman Road last week, marking a significant investment for Kieran McKenna’s team following their promotion from the Championship.

Derby retains a financial interest in Delap’s transfer due to a sell-on clause in the deal that saw him move from Pride Park to Manchester City in 2019. Delap spent 10 years at Derby, progressing through their academy before joining the Premier League champions.
