Paul Warne reacts to Derby County’s transfer following medical evaluations.

Paul Warne remained non-committal regarding Derby County’s interest in Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, despite reports suggesting the goalkeeper had traveled to England for a medical this week.

The Rams are optimistic about finalizing a deal for the Djurgarden star, reportedly valued at around £1.4 million.

It was reported that Zetterstrom was set to fly to the UK on Monday to complete the final steps of the transfer, which would end Derby’s extensive search for a new number one goalkeeper this summer. However, Zetterstrom is expected to play in Djurgarden’s Europa League Conference match against Progres tonight, and the club’s sporting director, Bosse Andersson, also anticipates his participation in the game against Goteburg on Sunday.

Paul Warne makes honest Derby County transfer claim

When asked for an update and whether there was any truth to the Swedish media’s claims about Zetterstrom’s trip to England, Warne responded: “Unfortunately, we are no closer, and it’s obviously a position we need to strengthen, along with a few others.

“I don’t have any exciting news to share. Has he been to England? That’s typical. I lose players all the time. If he’s been somewhere else and I wasn’t informed, that’s disappointing!

“Hopefully, he’s enjoyed a nice holiday, and if he has come over, the weather has been good.”
