Matt O’Riley has been likened to Scott McTominay, who is valued at £30 million, with Celtic advised to seek a similar fee.

The Hoops playmaker is attracting interest this summer, with clubs like Atalanta and Southampton having already had bids rejected. Chelsea is the latest team rumored to be interested in the Danish international, and former Celtic assistant coach John Collins understands why. Collins, a big admirer of O’Riley, believes he is more talented than some of the higher-profile players in the Premier League

Specifically, Collins points out that McTominay, who has been linked to Fulham as the transfer window nears its end, is not as impressive as O’Riley. Collins argues that O’Riley’s youth—he is still just 23—and his contract, which runs until 2027, are strong factors in Celtic’s favor.

More broadly, the former Scotland player expressed that he believes O’Riley is a superior all-around player compared to Manchester United’s midfielder and that O’Riley should also command a high price.

“If Celtic were offered £15 million, would they dismiss it? We talk about Scott McTominay being worth £30 million. Personally, while I do like McTominay, I believe Matt O’Riley is the better player,” he said in an interview with the BBC.
