Young Guyanese winger Omari Glasgow’s reputation continues to grow, as he was recently included in the Chicago Fire Football Club’s (FC) first team preseason training camp roster.
The 20-year-old Glasgow, who plays for the club’s Major League Soccer Next Pro team, Chicago Fire FC II, is currently at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, as the first team gears up for the upcoming season.
A press release on the club’s website stated, “The Fire’s current preseason roster includes 27 players from the First Team, two players from MLS NEXT Pro side Chicago Fire FC II, and three MLS SuperDraft selections. Recent First Team acquisitions Allan Arigoni and Tobias Salquist will train with partner club, FC Lugano, until their P-1 Visas have been approved.”
The preseason began at IMG Academy last Monday. “The Fire will train at IMG Academy from Jan. 15-27 and will play exhibition matches against USL Championship side Loudoun United FC on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. CT and the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m. CT.”
The release further stated, “For the second half of preseason, the Club will return to Chicago and train at SeatGeek Stadium before traveling to Coachella Valley, Calif. on Monday, Feb. 5.”
“While in California, the Fire will participate in the Coachella Valley Invitational, a preseason tournament featuring several MLS clubs from Feb. 5-17. The Fire will start the tournament against Austin FC on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 12 p.m. CT, then face LAFC on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m. CT, Minnesota United FC on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m. CT, and finish the preseason against the Portland Timbers on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. CT.”
“After the tournament, the Fire will return to Chicago on Sunday, Feb. 17, for final preparations before their season opener at the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Feb. 24.”
If Glasgow performs well during preseason training, he could secure a spot on the club’s first team, marking a significant milestone in his promising career.
