In addition to success on the field throughout the 2023-24 year, head coach Mike White‘s Longhorns also excelled in the classroom as eight student-athletes were named 2023-24 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Tuesday afternoon.
Katie Cimusz, Victoria Hunter, Teagan Kavan, Ashton Maloney, Viviana Martinez, Joley Mitchell, Sophia Simpson and Katie Stewart were among the 2,573 NCAA Division I softball student-athletes who earned a 3.5-or-higher grade point average (GPA) throughout the 2023-24 academic year to qualify for the honor.
In total, 8,054 collegiate student-athletes earned the honor: 2,573, Division I; 1,510, Division II; 2,285, Division III; 873, NAIA; 808, junior college; five from Penn State Brandywine.
Additionally, the Texas Longhorns were one of 164 Division I softball programs to finish the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.00-or-higher.
