Leeds United are making a strong push to sign FC Koln’s highly-regarded midfielder, Dejan Ljubicic, as they aim to reinforce their midfield ahead of the upcoming season.
The Yorkshire club initially made a €4 million bid for the 26-year-old, which was turned down. However, reports indicate that Leeds are now preparing a much-improved offer.
This interest appears to have caught Ljubicic’s attention, as a recent report from the German outlet BILD suggests that he is now reconsidering his future at Koln.
The report also notes that Koln is anticipating a substantial offer for Ljubicic. With his contract set to expire next summer, they might be willing to sell him for a reduced fee to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Ljubicic had a solid season in the Bundesliga, featuring in 26 matches and starting 24 of them. Although he provided two assists, his contributions weren’t enough to prevent Koln’s relegation, which has led him to consider exploring opportunities in a new league.
Leeds United are eager to fill the void left by key midfielders Glen Kamara, Marc Roca, and Archie Gray, who have departed the club. Signing a player like Ljubicic could significantly strengthen their squad by adding defensive stability and control in the midfield.
