Done Deal: Pedro Neto Reject Chelsea And Has Signed With Tottenham For…………..read more.
The Portuguese winger, who had drawn interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle, has been granted permission to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with Chelsea. This comes after Tottenham failed to reach an agreement with Wolves.
Last week, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil mentioned that the club would not block Neto’s move if a significant offer met their valuation of the player.
“I know how talented he is and how well he would perform at a top club,” O’Neil said following a pre-season match against Crystal Palace. “Obviously, I want our team to be incredibly successful, so I’m hoping he stays. There’s nothing happening right now from anyone. He’s in a good place, and I’ve discussed with him how we’re going to play, how it suits him, and what an important role he’ll have.”
“But, of course, we’re all adults in these conversations. If a massive bid comes from a top club, no one will stand in Pedro’s way.”
Now, Chelsea has come forward with the money to lure the Portugal international away from Molineux just a week before Wolves’ Premier League opener against Arsenal. The deal includes an initial £51 million fee with an additional £3 million in add-ons.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes played a key role in facilitating the agreement, making Neto the latest addition to Chelsea’s busy summer transfer window. The Blues have already completed signings of Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Filip Jorgensen, and Aaron Anselmino.
