German 2. Bundesliga club SSV Jahn Regensburg announced on Thursday morning that they have secured a loan deal for Chima Okoroji, a former target of the Nigerian Football Federation.

Okoroji began his career at TSV Grünwald before moving to Bayern Munich’s youth academy, where he spent ten years.

The left-back has been with SC Freiburg since 2017 but has struggled to secure playing time, making only two first-team appearances last season.

“I want to gain as much match practice as possible at SSV Jahn, build on my strengths, and work on my weaknesses. My goal is to have a successful season with Jahnelf and achieve our objectives,” Okoroji said on SSV Jahn Regensburg’s official website.

“I’m really excited for the season to begin. Now I want to give my all to help the team with my abilities.”

Eligible to represent Germany, Nigeria, and England at the international level, Okoroji was invited to a Nigeria U23 camp in December 2014 but did not attend the gathering in Abuja.
