Leeds United have made a previous attempt to sign a Chelsea player this summer, targeting Alfie Gilchrist, but Sheffield United ultimately secured his services. Now, it appears Leeds are pursuing another Chelsea talent.
As Leeds gear up for a renewed promotion push, they are expected to be active in the transfer market in the coming weeks. Their season opener resulted in a draw at home against Portsmouth.
Leeds have already brought in Joe Rodon, Joe Rothwell, Alex Cairns, and Jayden Bogle. Gilchrist, meanwhile, has joined Sheffield United on loan for the season and can play both on the right and centrally in defense.
Leeds’ defense looks strong, bolstered by the signings of Bogle and Rodon, as well as the promotion of James Debayo to the senior squad after an impressive pre-season.
According to reports, Leeds and Burnley have both made offers to sign Chelsea’s 21-year-old center-back Bashir Humphreys, who spent last season on loan at Swansea City. Swansea manager Michael Duff had previously praised Humphreys as “outstanding” during his 27 appearances, though an injury caused him to lose his spot. The offers from Leeds and Burnley are expected to be for a loan move, with Humphreys having three years remaining on his Chelsea contract.
