Sándor Csányi, president of the Hungarian Football Federation, revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai was not fully fit when he participated in the European Championship this summer. Despite this, there was no way the Liverpool number eight, a national hero in Hungary, would miss the tournament.

Szoboszlai was signed for around $76m (£60m/€70m) last summer after his release clause at RB Leipzig was triggered, and he made a strong start at Liverpool. However, after sustaining an injury in the first 2024 match against Newcastle United, he struggled to return to his earlier form.

Csányi noted that Szoboszlai hadn’t fully recovered from the injuries he faced when Euro 2024 arrived. Consequently, Liverpool will need to manage the 23-year-old’s workload carefully this summer before the new season begins in mid-August.
