Guard David Coit, a transfer from Northern Illinois, has joined the Kansas men’s basketball team, KU head coach Bill Self announced today. Coit will be a senior at Kansas for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

“David can shoot; he has range,” Self said. “He’s a player who can score the basketball. He averaged 21 points this past year at Northern Illinois. I see him as a guy that gives us a whole different dimension that we may not have had he not signed with us.”

A native of Columbus, New Jersey, Coit (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) is a two-time All-MAC selection in 2022-23 and 2023-24, earning third-team honors both seasons. Coit was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 14 Second Team each of the last two seasons.

In 2023-24, Coit started all 29 games at Northern Illinois and averaged 20.8 points per game, which ranked second in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and 24th nationally. His also averaged 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds per contest. Coit made 94 threes last season and his 3.24 three-point field goals made per game ranked 10th nationally. Coit shot 88.5 percent from the free throw line (108-of-122), which was 28th in the nation and posted two double-doubles on the season.
