Mercedes'outsider' fears addressed by Lewis Hamilton ahead of Ferrari move

“‘Still I Rise’—these words are emblazoned on the back of Lewis Hamilton’s helmet and tattooed on his shoulders. Since his remarkable debut in 2007, which is considered one of the greatest rookie performances in F1 history, Hamilton has consistently excelled. He’s topped the all-time pole position list, surpassing his idol Ayrton Senna, claimed the most wins, overtaking the incomparable Michael Schumacher, and matched Schumacher’s record of seven world titles.

Is he the G.O.A.T.? Few would argue against his place in the discussion. Moreover, he has achieved this status on his own terms, combining his unmatched speed with a refusal to conform to conventional stereotypes of a racing driver’s demeanor, appearance, or behavior.

Respect in F1 is hard-earned, but Sir Lewis Hamilton commands it from all his peers. Why? Because they know that regardless of the track, conditions, or situation, when the visor drops and the lights go out, it’s always Hammertime.”
