The SEC experienced a major shift in the college football landscape when Alabama’s legendary coach Nick Saban retired last season. However, the conference gained new talent with the arrival of Steve Sarkisian from Texas and Kalen DeBoer as the new head coach at Alabama.

Given these significant changes, it’s an ideal moment to rank the SEC coaches. Here’s the breakdown:

Kirby Smart: Not only is he the best coach in the SEC, but he’s also considered the best in the nation.

Smart has secured two national championships and came within one play of winning a third. No other active SEC coach has claimed a national title.

Brian Kelly: Over the past seven seasons, Kelly has consistently won 10 or more games—five seasons at Notre Dame and two at LSU—amassing a 73-16 record during this period.
