Done Deal: Tottenham Has Signed Conor Gallagher After……….read more.

Former defender Alan Hutton has recommended that Tottenham Hotspur should sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher before the transfer window closes. Tottenham initially showed interest in strengthening their midfield by pursuing Gallagher, but they ultimately chose to sign Archie Gray from Leeds United in a £40m deal instead. Meanwhile, Gallagher was close to joining Atletico Madrid, but that deal now appears to be falling through.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton suggested that Tottenham will likely keep a close watch on Gallagher’s situation, especially with Chelsea open to letting him go. If the Atletico move doesn’t happen, Spurs could make a move for him before the deadline. Hutton believes Gallagher would likely start for Tottenham and could replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has joined Olympique de Marseille.

Hutton noted, “It’s something they’ll be monitoring. Gallagher could come into the team and start. Bissouma showed promise last season, but Tottenham might want someone who offers a bit more. With Hojbjerg gone, there’s an opportunity to bring someone in, and if Gallagher isn’t in Chelsea’s future plans, a deal could be made—something Daniel Levy might be keen on.”

Atletico Madrid had agreed on a £34m deal with Chelsea for Gallagher, so Tottenham could secure him for a reasonable price if they act soon. Gallagher’s energetic style of play would fit well in Ange Postecoglou’s high-pressing system, making him a potentially excellent signing for Spurs.
