Derby County have secured the signing of goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Swedish club Djurgarden on a three-year deal.

The 6ft 6in goalkeeper had been on the Rams’ radar throughout the summer, but his transfer was delayed due to Djurgarden’s participation in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Zetterstrom, who earned his first international cap for Sweden last year in a friendly against Iceland, joined Djurgarden as an eight-year-old. He began his senior career with lower-league side IFK Lidingo before returning to Djurgarden, where he made his debut in 2021.

Since then, Zetterstrom has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Djurgarden, racking up 104 appearances across all competitions.

For Derby, Josh Vickers has started in goal for the first two matches of the season—a 4-2 loss to Blackburn and a 2-1 League Cup win over Chesterfield earlier this week.
