AC/DC has once again demonstrated their resilience and lasting popularity, concluding their 2024 ‘Power Up’ tour with a spectacular final show at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.

The concert attracted an impressive crowd of 82,000 fans, marking a significant achievement for the band, particularly given the numerous challenges they’ve faced over the years.

Despite the absence of some key members and the difficulties posed by the pandemic, AC/DC delivered a series of performances that struck a chord with their loyal fanbase. This tour, their first since 2016, featured a mix of classic hits from both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras, including “Back in Black,” “Highway to Hell,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” along with rarer tracks like “Stiff Upper Lip” and “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It).”

Brian Johnson’s return to the stage was especially noteworthy. He used a new in-ear monitor system that, despite occasional glitches, enabled him to perform despite his previous hearing issues. One such issue occurred during a show in Seville, Spain, where he missed an entire verse of “Back in Black” before the problem was resolved.

The tour lineup saw some changes, with drummer Phil Rudd absent for undisclosed reasons, replaced by Matt Laug. Chris Chaney, formerly of Jane’s Addiction, stepped in on bass, filling in for Cliff Williams, who chose not to participate in the full tour after a brief appearance at the Power Trip festival. The revamped lineup of AC/DC made its debut on May 17th at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The successful wrap-up of the ‘Power Up’ tour in Dublin not only showcased AC/DC’s ability to overcome obstacles but also hinted at the possibility of future tours. While their next steps remain uncertain, the band’s capacity to draw massive crowds and deliver electrifying performances suggests that their journey is far from over. Whether they will tour North America remains to be seen, especially given the potential to fill stadiums and the enthusiasm from fans worldwide. Fans can check for any future AC/DC tour dates here.
