Barcelona’s pursuit of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao is gaining momentum, with the Catalan club already initiating talks about a possible transfer. According to José Álvarez Haya, the star winger is keen on moving to Barcelona.

Despite the high cost associated with acquiring Leao, Barcelona believe they can manage the financial challenge. However, if the deal doesn’t come through, the club has a backup plan: targeting Federico Chiesa.

Currently, Barcelona is determined to secure one of these two talented forwards, with either Leao or Chiesa expected to join the team this month.

**Leao Transfer Gaining Momentum**
The prospect of bringing Leao to Barcelona has recently gained traction. Although the deal is complex, Barcelona holds a significant advantage with the involvement of Jorge Mendes, one of football’s most powerful agents.

Moreover, Leao has long been admired by Barcelona’s President, Joan Laporta, who views him as an ideal addition to the squad.

However, there are substantial challenges. Leao’s contract with AC Milan runs until 2028, and his market value is estimated to be between €90 million and €100 million. Additionally, Milan is reportedly demanding a hefty €175 million for the Portuguese international, a figure beyond Barcelona’s reach.

**Leao’s Desire to Join Barcelona**
Despite these hurdles, Leao’s desire to play for Barcelona gives the club some leverage. They are actively working on strategies to make this seemingly impossible transfer feasible. One approach involves reducing the club’s wage bill by offloading high-salary players like Ilkay Gundogan and Clément Lenglet.

Barcelona is also exploring ways to generate funds through the sale of young talents like Vitor Roque and Mikayil Faye. Notably, the sale of Roque could bring in around €30 million, which would help balance the club’s finances.

Interestingly, AC Milan has shown interest in Mikayil Faye, which could pave the way for a player-plus-cash deal that might lower the overall cost of signing Leao.
