Deal done: birmingham has reach the agreement with queens part rangers and lyndon dykes is set to sign three……….

Birmingham City has reportedly had a £1m offer accepted by Queens Park Rangers for Scotland international Lyndon Dykes, as they look to strengthen Chris Davies’ options at center forward. The Blues have been aiming to overhaul their attacking lineup throughout the summer, already addressing their need for goals by signing the in-form striker Alfie May, who has scored three goals in three games.

Dykes, at 28, would be a valuable addition to Davies’ squad, joining poacher May and club legend Lukas Jutkiewicz, who recently extended his contract for another year. With over 150 Championship appearances and 35 goals since joining QPR from Livingston in 2020, Dykes brings significant experience to the table. He recently scored a goal ten days ago but was absent in QPR’s draw against Plymouth last weekend. When asked about Dykes’ absence and future, QPR manager Marti Cifuentes remained vague, stating, “I just pick players based on availability. He wasn’t available. I don’t know [if he’ll be here after the deadline].”

Millwall has long been interested in Dykes, reportedly offering up to £3m for the Australian-born forward last summer. However, Dykes chose to extend his stay at QPR, signing a three-year contract that would keep him at the club until 2026. Now, it appears that Birmingham City might bring that agreement to an early end.

Dykes experienced a setback this past summer when an ankle injury forced him out of Scotland’s Euro 2024 preparations, dealing a significant blow to Steve Clarke’s plans. Clarke, speaking on the matter, praised Dykes’ unique qualities, recalling how one of his best moments as Scotland’s head coach was convincing Dykes to choose Scotland over Australia. “Lyndon is devastated that he is not going, and I am really disappointed myself that he is not going,” Clarke remarked.

Dykes has also been highly regarded by his former QPR manager Mark Warburton, who brought him to England in 2020 and believed that Dykes had the potential to eventually play in the Premier League.
