The Las Vegas Aces clinched a thrilling 77-75 victory over the Chicago Sky, thanks to a last-second play by A’ja Wilson. While Wilson was the star of the game, Aces rookie Kate Martin had limited time on the court. However, that didn’t seem to dampen her romantic side.

Iowa guard Kate Martin takes questions from WNBA legend Lisa Leslie

Rumors have been swirling about Kate Martin dating social media influencer Claire Gransee, and Martin’s recent social media activity has added more fuel to the fire. Just hours after the Aces’ exciting win, Gransee posted a few photos on Instagram, including one with Martin, captioned, “i’ll be here!” Martin quickly responded with a playful comment, “You’re so artsy fartsy.”

This isn’t the first time Martin has shown affection for Gransee online. Earlier this month, Martin posted a series of photos on Instagram with the caption, “Break treated me good, love my people,” which included a mirror selfie with Gransee. Gransee responded in the comments, “so much cuteness!! best dump!!”

These interactions have only intensified the rumors about their relationship. Whether they’re dating or not, it’s clear that there’s a special bond between them. This connection is not the only tie Martin has to her Iowa days, aside from Caitlin Clark.

Kate Martin’s strong Iowa ties were evident during the game against the Sky. The Las Vegas Aces’ second-round pick in this year’s WNBA draft is still finding her footing in her rookie season. She played her fourth consecutive game this month, logging 3 minutes without recording any points, rebounds, or assists. This brings her season averages to 2.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1 assist.

Despite her slow start, Martin’s connection to her college days at Iowa remains strong. Iowa head coach Jan Jensen was spotted at Wintrust Arena supporting both Martin and fellow Iowa alum Megan Gustafson. Gustafson even wore a T-shirt with “America needs Kate Martin” written on it, further highlighting the support Martin has from her Iowa community.

Though her numbers may not be impressive yet, Martin’s talent is not lost on those who know her. She values executing plays without making mistakes, a quality that coach Becky Hammon recognizes. While it’s been a slow start, Martin is just beginning her journey.
