shocking report: the chiefs coach announce that his player rees zammit was accuse for their lose against………..

The Chiefs suffered a 34-21 defeat against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, with former Wales rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit once again being utilized in multiple roles.

Rees-Zammit was brought into the offense in the second half after participating in a few special teams snaps during the first two quarters.

With his family watching, the 23-year-old managed a 36-yard kick return and showed improvement as a running back.

The highlight of his performance came early in the fourth quarter when he rushed for 10 yards and secured a first down—the longest run of his young NFL career.

Now, Rees-Zammit awaits the Chiefs’ decision on which players will make the final cut from 90 to 53 for the start of the 2024 NFL season. Head coach Andy Reid and the Chiefs’ backroom staff have until 21:00 BST on Tuesday, 27 August, to finalize their regular season roster.

In January 2024, Rees-Zammit shocked the rugby world by announcing his immediate departure from the sport to pursue a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” in the NFL. He participated in the 2024 NFL International Player Pathway (IPP), a 10-week program designed to teach the skills needed to succeed in the NFL.

In late March, Rees-Zammit impressed scouts at the University of South Florida’s Pro Day, catching the attention of the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Denver Broncos before signing a three-year deal with the Chiefs.

In May 2024, Rees-Zammit met his new teammates for the first time, comparing quarterback Patrick Mahomes to former Wales fly-half Dan Biggar. He spent the early summer honing his on-field skills and studying the Chiefs’ extensive playbook.

Rees-Zammit made his NFL debut on August 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing as a running back, kicker, and kick returner. He followed that up with his home debut at Arrowhead Stadium against the Detroit Lions, once again showcasing his versatility.

The Chiefs concluded their preseason with Thursday night’s loss to the Bears, marking their third consecutive preseason defeat. Rees-Zammit gained more experience on special teams and as a running back during the game.

During his debut, Rees-Zammit had two carries for one yard and one reception for three yards. After announcing his NFL ambitions, he expressed his desire to play on offense, aiming for a role as a running back, receiver, or hybrid player. However, given the limited opportunities and his performance in the preseason, it seems unlikely that Rees-Zammit will secure a significant role on offense in 2024.

Adding to the challenge, fellow rookie running back Carson Steele has shown elite ability during the preseason, highlighted by a 31-yard run and touchdown against the Bears.

Despite the competition, Rees-Zammit displayed potential in the fourth quarter against the Bears, averaging 5.2 yards per carry over four rushing attempts—a mark above the NFL average.

Rees-Zammit has had more involvement on special teams during the preseason. In his debut, he made a tackle on special teams and returned a kick-off. He continued his kick return duties against the Lions with a 27-yard return, and against the Bears, he recorded a career-high return of 36 yards.
