Vonn can’t envision a life without excitement. “Adrenaline is like oxygen for me,” she shared with BBC’s Influential. “I crave it. The biggest challenge in this new phase of life without ski racing is finding ways to experience that same thrill and adventure without competing downhill. Adrenaline is something I thrive on; I need it, I love it. It drives me. I need a challenge, something that pushes me. athletes, we’re always in top physical shape. It’s rare to find an athlete who’s not in peak condition. But the mental aspect changes everything. Everyone deals with pressure, but I see it as a privilege. If you can harness pressure to your advantage, it can be a powerful driving force. However, it’s easy to let it overwhelm you. Especially now with social media: When I won in Vancouver in 2010, Facebook was just gaining popularity, and I don’t think I faced as much criticism as athletes do today. The amount of pressure athletes face now is truly remarkable.”
