The Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg believes Bruno Labbadia is well-suited to be the head coach of the Super Eagles, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The German club expressed this confidence in a statement following the announcement by the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday that Labbadia would take over the position.
“Good luck, Bruno! You’ve got a good coach, Eagles,” the club wrote on X, recalling the time when Victor Osimhen was on their roster.
Labbadia, 58, takes over from Finidi George, who stepped down in June, and now faces the challenge of securing positive results in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
In June, several candidates were linked to the job, including former France women’s national team coach Herve Renard and Swede Janne Andersson, who were considered top contenders.
However, the NFF’s decision to appoint Labbadia has come as a surprise, disappointing many Nigerian football fans who have questioned the football body’s choice.
