On Thursday, Wolves secured the signing of Bastien Meupiyou, and on deadline day, the club is now pursuing another promising young defender.
Meupiyou became Wolves’ fourth signing of the summer after the club finalized a £4.2 million deal with Nantes.
The hope is that Meupiyou will eventually break into the first-team squad after settling in at the club and gaining experience with the U21s.
However, Wolves aren’t stopping with Meupiyou in their quest to sign promising young center-backs. According to Fabrizio Romano, another deal is close to completion at Molineux.

Romano reported today on X that Wolves are set to finalize the signing of another defensive talent.
Wolves have struck a deal with Chelsea to acquire their 17-year-old prospect Saheed Olagunju.
Romano wrote on X: “Exclusive: Wolves agree deal to sign 2007-born talent Saheed Olagunju from Chelsea for the Academy. The deal is done and set to be signed today.”
Olagunju joined Chelsea from Charlton Athletic as an U12 and received his first full-time scholarship in the summer of 2023.
