Tom Hamilton, renowned as Aerosmith’s bassist, also played a significant role in shaping some of the band’s most famous lyrics. He contributed to writing classics like “Sweet Emotion,” “Kings and Queens,” and “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You.” With a long-standing connection to the band, Hamilton considers “The Farm” one of his top Aerosmith tracks. Recently, Aerosmith announced their decision to step back from performing due to Steven Tyler’s vocal injury. Amidst speculation that this could mark the band’s end, Hamilton offered his thoughts on the possibility of an Aerosmith reunion.

In an interview with AARP, Hamilton looked back on his career with Aerosmith and expressed cautious hope about the band’s future. When asked about the likelihood of a reunion, he placed his optimism between 7 and 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. He acknowledged that while touring may no longer be an option, he remains hopeful that other opportunities will present themselves. He remarked, “This isn’t the first time we’ve faced dark times, but the sun has a way of breaking through. Right now, all we have is time and hope.”

 

Having navigated numerous challenges with the band, Hamilton commended Tyler’s resilience. “Steven has an incredible ability to overcome challenges like this. He’s done it before. You never know. While we won’t be touring, there are still many ways to keep Aerosmith alive.”

Reflecting on Tyler’s determination to complete his final show despite his injury, Hamilton stressed that the band’s future isn’t bound by current circumstances. “It’s a testament to Steven’s strength and his dedication to giving fans what they came for. His injury wasn’t due to anything he did wrong. He’s been healing and working tirelessly to return to the stage, but it just wasn’t possible. We can’t predict what lies ahead, but it won’t include touring.”

Addressing the idea of Aerosmith continuing without Tyler, Hamilton was firm: “There’s been no talk of touring with another singer. I can’t even imagine it.”
