Postecoglou to confront challenges against Roma and Rangers in Europa League draw.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have landed a notable draw in the revamped and expanded 36-team Europa League. The Australian coach will lead his team against Serie A’s Roma and Scottish giants Rangers, after securing fifth place in the Premier League last season.

The group stage of the tournament is structured into four pots of nine teams, based on their club coefficient. Each team will play eight different opponents, with four home and four away matches, all selected by computer.

Tottenham, who won the first edition of the tournament in 1972, return to European competition after a year off. They will also face Galatasaray, Alkmaar, Ferencvaros, Qarabag, Elfsborg, and Hoffenheim.

Manchester United, another English team in Europe’s second-tier competition, will also encounter Rangers, as well as former manager Jose Mourinho’s new team, Fenerbahce.

Chelsea, representing the Premier League in the third-tier European Conference League, will play a six-match group stage, including fixtures against Ireland’s Shamrock Rovers and Greece’s Panathinaikos.
