The Philadelphia Eagles have named their team captains for the 2024 NFL season, and just like in 2022, there’s a first-timer on the list who is deeply moved by the honor.

Following in the footsteps of A.J. Brown last year, Jordan Mailata has been selected as one of the seven team captains this season, and the recognition left him emotional.

“First and foremost, I’m extremely honored to be part of this group, and I didn’t see it coming. Whether I’ve had the ‘C’ on my chest or not, I’ve always considered myself a leader, striving to follow the example set by the veterans and captains before me. So, having the ‘C’ now doesn’t change my mindset; I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve always done,” Mailata shared.

“This is something I’m going to cherish and never take for granted. It’s an incredible opportunity to lead this team, and being named a captain is surreal.”

The Eagles held a team vote to select their nine permanent captains for the season, as recently announced on the team’s official website.

The chosen captains include quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown, Jordan Mailata, kicker Jake Elliott, defensive end Brandon Graham, right tackle Lane Johnson, and cornerback Darius Slay.
