Third-tier club FC Saarbrücken’s fairytale run in the German Cup ended with a 2-0 defeat to FC Kaiserslautern in the semi-final.
The underdogs had stunned Bayern Munich, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Eintracht Frankfurt to reach the DFB-Pokal semi-finals.
However, their dream of making it to the final was shattered by second-half goals from Marlon Ritter and Almamy Touré.
Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen will face Düsseldorf in the second semi-final on Wednesday.
This marks the first time Kaiserslautern have reached the final since 2003 when they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
