CONGRATULATOIN: Alicia Keys Has Been Award As The Best American song………………read more.
Alicia Keys sparked controversy this week when she criticized DJs for pre-planning their mixes. Her comments quickly drew backlash online.
DJ R-Tistic responded by revealing that her label once asked him to play her song during an Instagram Live session without paying him. When urged by others to demand his payment, he explained it wasn’t an option. “It was her label, RCA, that contacted me through a professional email,” he shared on Instagram. “They offered to pay me to play a remix of one of her songs during an IG livestream early in the pandemic, but after I played it, the label rep ghosted me.”
Meanwhile, some pointed out that her husband, Swizz Beatz, is also a DJ, sharing a video where he uses his chin to press buttons on his DJ equipment.
DJ Quicksilva speculated that Alicia Keys might have made the comments just to provoke a reaction. He questioned, “Is this just a clickbait question for attention?” and suggested inviting her to a DJ conference so she could see what DJs actually do. Another user took it further, sharing a chaotic video of Swizz Beatz DJing, which also featured Busta Rhymes appearing confused by the scene.
The Hip-Hop community didn’t take kindly to her remarks. One user on X criticized her, saying, “She finds a new way to show us she’s lame every year, it’s amazing actually.” Another referenced her infamous high note at Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show, joking, “They remixed that note she missed at the Super Bowl.”
In her original video, Keys questioned the role of DJs, asking, “What the f**k do DJs actually do? I don’t think they’re really remixing the song on the spot. I’m pretty sure they’ve programmed it ahead of time, so what are they actually doing? Are they just turning up the volume, turning it down, pressing the ‘da, da, da, da’ and then just dancing? Like, what the f**k do DJs actually do?”
