Newcastle United experienced an eventful summer transfer window, though many fans might feel let down by how it concluded.

The Magpies were heavily linked to Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but despite submitting a club-record bid, they were unable to secure an agreement with the Eagles for the England international.

Newcastle was also rumored to be interested in Mario Hermoso, but ultimately, they couldn’t bring in a defender before the window closed. Additionally, they were connected to Adrien Rabiot, who became a free agent after leaving Juventus this summer.

Rabiot has now reignited hopes for Newcastle regarding a possible deal.

The French midfielder recently declined a contract offer from AC Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, leaving him still available despite being one of Europe’s top midfield talents.

Regarded as ‘world-class,’ Rabiot has been a standout performer for both club and country over the past two years, playing a key role for France in this summer’s Euros alongside N’Golo Kante.

For Newcastle, signing Rabiot would be an ideal addition to their midfield as the new season begins, especially with their ambitions of qualifying for European competition and possibly even contending for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Rabiot’s rejection of Milan’s offer could suggest that the former PSG star has a specific plan in mind, and Newcastle might have nothing to lose by making an offer in the coming days.

Rabiot, a proven champion in both France and Italy with a highly decorated career, might find the challenge of the Premier League enticing.

While Newcastle might not yet be ready to compete for the title, acquiring a player like Rabiot could accelerate their progress towards their ultimate goal of winning the Premier League.

For Rabiot, the ambitious project at Newcastle could be appealing, making him the type of high-profile signing the fans have been anticipating.
