**What is your greatest fear?**
I’m not a fan of snakes, and I hate sand—it’s very inconvenient.

**What’s your earliest memory?**
A pair of shiny red lips, smelling of gin, leaning over my pram. I was so terrified I peed into my auntie’s mouth.

**What trait do you most dislike in yourself?**
Procrastination.

**Your most embarrassing moment?**
I once vomited on the shoes of Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan. He sent me home in a taxi, wrapped in a towel.

**What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought, besides property?**
An eight-seater Cessna Golden Eagle aircraft. I flew it across the Atlantic for US and European tours before selling it and becoming an airline pilot, where I was paid to fly instead.

**Describe yourself in three words.**
Hairy quantum hobbit.

**What makes you unhappy?**
People who refuse to change their opinions in light of new facts.

**What do you dislike about your appearance?**
I used to think I was a fat, ugly kid, but looking back at old photos, I wasn’t that bad.

**If you could bring back an extinct trait, what would it be?**
Integrity in public life.

**What’s your most unappealing habit?**
I’m messy, procrastinate, and I’m usually late.

**What scares you about aging?**
I always plan five years ahead so I’m never caught off guard. Right now, I’m 70 in my mind, so every year until then is a celebration.
