Daniel Ballard’s contract has a sell-on clause, which might benefit Arsenal financially as Everton looks to acquire the defender for Merseyside.
FootballTransfers reports that Everton has expressed a strong interest in Daniel Ballard, a recent graduate of the Arsenal system who is currently playing for Sunderland, in an attempt to replace Jarrad Branthwaite.
Jarrad Branthwaite has been rumored to leaving Everton, thus they would require a substantial replacement in the middle of the defense.
In the current season, Daniel Ballard has made 33 appearances for Sunderland. The 24-year-old center back is reportedly asking Sunderland for almost £20 million in exchange for his services.
Any news that Daniel Ballard might be joining Arsenal is excellent news. Football.London said that when Arsenal sold Ballard in 2022, they had a sizable sell-on clause.
Ballard was only sold by Arsenal for £2 million, but the sell-on money is expected to compound and increase the value of that transaction. Even if the precise amount of the clause is unknown, you would imagine such information would become public as soon as Sunderland’s sale of him really happens.
