Breaking News: “Skip Bayless Alleges Caitlin Clark’s Backing Sparks Racial Tensions, Calls Her a ‘Right-Wing Icon'”
On his podcast Thursday, Skip Bayless shared his concerns about publicly supporting Caitlin Clark, a rising star in women’s basketball. Bayless admitted to being impressed by Clark’s skills, which sparked his interest in the WNBA this year. However, he initially hesitated to express his admiration due to feelings of “guilt” and fear of exacerbating racial tensions.
Bayless confessed, “I began to realize she’s incredibly talented, but I felt uncomfortable praising her on TV or social media. I didn’t want to appear as a ‘red state white guy’ cheering for a ‘red state white girl.’ Our country is already divided racially, and I didn’t want to add to that.”
Earlier in the year, Bayless had criticized Clark, questioning her potential and calling into doubt her competitive edge. He had also suggested that Clark’s success might be perceived as a “right-wing symbol,” attributing it to her being a White player excelling in a sport traditionally dominated by Black athletes.
Despite this, Bayless clarified that he wasn’t accusing Clark of having any extreme political views, acknowledging that she has wisely avoided making political statements. Clark herself recently addressed political questions only in the context of encouraging people to vote, without endorsing any specific candidates.
