Urgently: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Baker Mayfield has been rushed to the hospital for a critical health condition after…..
Baker Mayfield isn’t showing any signs of regression despite securing a lucrative contract this past offseason. After making the most of his “prove-it” deal signed in 2023, which led to a three-year, $100 million contract, there were questions about whether he could maintain his form, especially with a new offensive coordinator in charge.
Not only has Mayfield avoided a decline, but he’s raising the bar for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. In the team’s Week 2 win, he threw for just 185 yards, completing 12 of 19 passes, but it was his key rushing plays that sparked the team and ultimately secured the Buccaneers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Trailing 16-13, Mayfield broke free from the 22-yard line, juking a defender for an 11-yard gain. That elusive run set up an 11-yard touchdown carry on the next play, giving Tampa Bay their second score of the game.
Mayfield’s juke went viral, as he’s beginning to resemble the dynamic player who won the Heisman Trophy in college.
