Sad News: Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has officially announced his retirement from… Read more

Leeds United suffered their first Championship defeat, as Scott Parker’s Burnley edged past an out-of-form Whites side 1-0 on Saturday.

Luca Koleosho’s first-half breakaway goal proved decisive for Burnley, leaving Daniel Farke frustrated on the sidelines. Despite Leeds dominating possession, they were unable to find the goal that could trouble Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

Wilfried Gnonto had a particularly underwhelming performance at Elland Road. The Italian forward, along with Manor Solomon on the opposite wing, struggled to make an impact. Solomon’s slip allowed Koleosho to break through and score the winning goal. Gnonto, wearing the number 29, only managed one shot on target and completed 22 accurate passes during the match, as Burnley consistently exploited Leeds’ mistakes.

In addition to losing possession 16 times, Gnonto will be eager to move past this disappointing display and contribute to Leeds’ promotion push. His manager, Daniel Farke, is unlikely to drop him based on one poor performance, especially considering Gnonto’s contributions, including a goal on the opening day against Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford’s situation is more precarious. The injury-prone forward has yet to secure a place in the starting XI this season due to recurring fitness issues. Bamford, who is Leeds’ highest earner with a wage of £70,000 per week according to Capology, has only appeared in two league games, playing an average of just 11 minutes. Despite his hefty salary, Bamford’s injury struggles continue, having missed 68 games during his time at Leeds, with only two seasons where he managed to score in double figures.
