What a sadness: Nic Anderson will no longer play for six months due to……

NORMAN — It appears OU receiver Nic Anderson’s season debut is near.

Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold said Monday after practice that Anderson had teased him the past few weeks about playing but never did. Arnold added he’s looking forward to Anderson being back on the field Saturday

“I was talking to him about it today,” Arnold said. “Having Nic back Saturday will be awesome. Obviously, a key piece to our offense, a dynamic piece for us and hopefully we can facilitate the ball to him this weekend.”

Anderson caught 31 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. The Katy, Texas, native received an All-Big 12 honorable mention nod last season and was a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in 2023 after playing in all 13 games and made six starts last season.

Anderson warmed up ahead of the Tulane game but “just wasn’t quite there,” head coach Brent Venables said postgame. Venables will likely provide an update on Anderson’s status during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

No. 13 OU’s offense will need all the help it can get vs. No. 7 Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Norman on ABC.
