Breaking News: Leeds United have named Carlos Corberan as their new head coach, replacing Daniel Farke in the role……read more

Leeds United still have their former assistant manager, Carlos Corberan, in mind after Daniel Farke’s slow start to the Championship season. A report revealed that Corberan, currently managing West Bromwich Albion, has a £2 million release clause in his contract, which could tempt Leeds to make a move for him.

Leeds drew their first two games of the season, including a 3-3 tie against newly-promoted Portsmouth and a 0-0 draw against Corberan’s West Brom, leaving them without a win. Although they later secured victories over Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday, they couldn’t break down 10-man Burnley, leaving them outside the play-off spots. Pressure is mounting on Farke, and the club might turn to Corberan, who previously coached their under-23 team during Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure.

The report from Football Insider claims that Corberan’s £2 million release clause could make him an attractive target for Leeds, given their long-standing interest. Corberan has been impressive in the Championship, leading West Brom to the play-offs last season and winning 43 out of 90 games. His team currently sits at the top of the league with four wins and a draw from their first five games.

Despite his success at West Brom, where he’s given full control, Leeds could still consider him as a potential replacement for Farke, who is under growing pressure after the team’s failure to secure promotion last season. Corberan, praised as an “elite manager,” has also garnered admiration from other Championship clubs, making him a sought-after talent. However, with West Brom thriving, staying at the Midlands club might be his best option for now.
