Breaking News: Leicester City Ready To Offer Wilfred Ndidi And Two Star In Transfer Swap Deal For $80m Striker…………………….read more.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has switched his Leicester City jersey number from 25 to 6, nine years after initially wearing the former upon his arrival from Genk.
The recently promoted Premier League club revealed the squad numbers for the 2024/2025 season on Wednesday, which was shared on their official website.
Ndidi first sported the number 25 jersey when he made his professional debut for Racing Genk in a Pro League match against Royal Charleroi S.C. However, he will now wear the number 6, a jersey previously worn by Jonny Evans, who has since moved to Manchester United, and Robert Huth, the German player with the most appearances in the English top flight.
Despite widespread rumors suggesting that Ndidi would leave Leicester City when his contract expired in June, he ultimately signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
Since joining Leicester, Ndidi has played in 273 matches across all competitions, contributing 17 goals and 17 assists.
Similarly, Italian-Nigerian defender Caleb Okoli will wear the number 5 jersey, previously donned by club legend Wes Morgan and Chelsea Academy graduate Ryan Bertrand during their time with Leicester.
Okoli, who joined Leicester from Atalanta this summer, is preparing for his first season with the club and could make his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, while Ndidi is poised to make his 193rd English top-flight appearance.
